For many years now we have managed to source reclaimed hardwood with which to use for Turned Box Globes, these delightful miniature globes are hand coloured.
We presently offer 3 Gores for them: Spies Terrestrial circa 1830. Woodward Terrestrial circa 1850 and Bales Celestial Globe.
As well as using hardwoods, we can also offer the hardest of hardwoods -Lignum Vitae – this rare wood which in the Middle Ages was ground down and used as medicine, is also reclaimed, but more costly due to the cost of the wood and also the loss of chisels by our turner in their manufacturer!
