In 1507 Martin Waldseemuller published a small woodblock print of 12 terrestrial globe gores. The printed area was fourteen by seven inches and was designed to make the earliest surviving printed paper globe. This is a 3″ globe.
Despite numerous copies being published (believed to be at least 1000 copies), no surviving globe has survived and only 3 original sets of gores have survived. Our globe is made in collaboration with the James Ford Bell Library in Minneapolis. U.S.A.
